Ex situ and surficial methods may provide valuable goods while reducing environmental risks. In-situ mineralization stores minerals in ultramafic and mafic geological formations.

Drilling to depths where the temperature surpasses 100°C and injecting high PCO2 fluids might result in efficient, permanent CO2 storage.
